Why is it that World of Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG of all time? Do you think that any upcoming games will have the opportunity to dethrone it or at least reach such public fame and such a high amount of players?

A new MMORPG is going to have a steep hill to climb to try to “unseat” World of Warcraft. I would say that as long as Blizzard continues to put out expansion packs and maintain the servers, WoW is going to stay strong.

It’s attractive because it can be done alone, or with a group of friends. You can achieve a lot just as a solo player, with an hour a week, if you’re not into the competitive business of guilds and one-upmanship. It’s something that grows as you grow, and has a lot of content to explore.

Now, if Blizzard falls down and stops putting out expansions, or stops maintaining their servers… The next game down the line will get a lot of converts.
