US Citizen looking for Canadian Immigration Help?

Question by Brandeana: US Citizen looking for Canadian Immigration Help?
I’m a Twenty year old US Citizen looking to immigrate to Canada — Alberta, specifically. I’ve only graduated through High school with no college but I’m intending to go to school (online or otherwise) for Veterinary Tech and then after for Veterinary Medicine.

I’ve visited Canada three times now in the passed months on visitor visa’s, I’m here currently but my last time through the immigration offices have left me with some piece of paper in my passport stating I’ve got to leave before the date printed or I’ll be deported and denied re-entry at any point and since I’m looking to immigrate, that’s not exactly what I’m looking for.

Anyways, I’m looking to get in somehow but I’m unsure of how. I worked as a sales adviser/manager for a GNC for a year (Sales Advising) which I think fits in to a skilled worker visa but the immigration officers and it’s officers are at their own personal discretion about it and seeing as it normal requires secondary education to gain that position I feel they’ll deny me for a skilled workers visa for that.

Anyways, I wrote up a big thing for a forum a few weeks ago but never got to post it, i figure it would help here too

So, I’m not really sure where to start but I guess the beginning is good enough, huh?

My names Brandeana and I’m Twenty. I play/played (on a hiatus) World of Warcraft, and have for a while. Around the beginning of the year, I’d say March, I started talking to a guy from my guild (as terrible as that sounds) and we were just people with common interests — the game, music, etc. We lost touch for a few months but at the beginning of May we started talking again. I’m two years older then him, so he is Eighteen and he was graduating from High School in his little town in the middle of June and we took the leap and I was his date for it. We decided not to buy a return ticket as I’d stay up the whole summer.

On June 21st I flew in to Edmonton. My first time in Canada as well as my first time out of the states. Because I had no return ticket I was sent in to the Immigration office. It was a bit rough but they let me in and told me I had to leave by December-something. I stayed the whole Summer and returned to California on August 30th. During my time up in Canada we decided we wanted to be in a relationship and me leaving was very hard on us.. I flew back up in October for 11 days to celebrate Thanksgiving. I went through Customs in Vancouver and had a return ticket so I got through fine, stayed my 11 days and flew back to San Fransisco.

Now, through the course of when I left in October we’ve decided that we want me to move up to stay. I was on my own in San Fransisco so moving was possible as I didn’t really have anything tying me down there. We decided we’d fly me back up and figure out everything with me here. Right now I am currently in Canada typing this. We’re just young and probably stupid and totally clueless as to what we are able to do in this situation.

As I flew up this time on November 21st, I had to go through the immigration office again since I had no return ticket. We were aware I couldn’t stay permanently so we were just going to let immigration give me my visa and then book around it but as I came up to the woman, things got a little out of hand. Now, I am in no way an intimidating person. In situations like that I freeze up and just nod and agree to avoid the confrontation. The woman told me she should just deport me as I had no reason to be in Canada since I’ve been here twice already and that I’m no longer a visitor. She asked me the usual as to why I was there and I told her and she told me that this is why I shouldn’t be in a relationship with someone outside of my country and that I shouldn’t do it. She told me I couldn’t stay as long as we were hoping I would’ve been able to and she said that she’ll pick a date when she feels I should leave and I either have to agree to abide by it or just fly back to California. She told me I can’t keep coming back to Canada and the more I come the “worse it’s going to look on my record” until they just don’t let me anymore and just deport me back if I try to visit. I asked her, then, if she felt that way that after I leave by the date she’s given me, how long did she feel I should wait until I come back. She told me that I shouldn’t come back for a very long time and told me again that this is why I shouldn’t date people not in my country. She told me to give her the address of where I was staying and my boyfriends name. I understand her reasoning for that but I felt like she was out of line to comment on my personal life and tell me that I shouldn’t come back and shouldn’t date someone not American. I love the guy I’m with a lot. Enough to give up California and move to his tiny town in the middle of Alberta and adapt to the cold weather. I just felt that because I’m only Twenty she thought she could give me some life advice but what she didn’t realize is that I moved to California

I’ve looked in to Canadian colleges but I have no way to get the money for the tuition’s — are there international student grants and loans for US students looking to study in Canada?
1. Don’t tell me i’m not “smart” enough or totally ineligible because, honestly, that is not the case.

2. Don’t tell me to study in the US, I have the ability to go to college in Canada, return back to the US after the degree is given and then return to work in Canada on a Skilled Workers visa. Once that is given, I can apply for Permanent Residency.

I’ve read more then you assume.

3. I check my email, not this. I filter through my email regularly and easily, if it’s spam, it’ll stay spam.

4. There is a set of lawyers, I lost the site, that talks to you directly, you tell them everything and they evaluate your possibility and then help you go through immigration — anyone have that site? I just remember it being something like “canadan” or something similar.

I won’t get a degree for something pointless. I’m going to be in veterinary medicine.
** We will not go by way of Marriage. We spoke to a couple who did try to do it that way and were told it made no difference.

**If I am in Alberta for three consecutive months, I CAN apply for Alberta Healthcare.

From the looks of it, most of you don’t know much on the subject — sorry.

Honestly you just do not have any skills or money to qualify for Canadian immigration. Student loans and grants only cover maybe 1/3 of the cost. Students that get full rides get them because of thei brilliance and outstanding academic merit. And generally only at the graduate school level.

Look up “TN Visa” on wikipedia. Get one of the degrees listed at a cheap state school in the US and you can then look for work in Canada.
